Happy Halloween everyone!
I made this on Friday, but I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to upload…wah!

Carrot pumpkins with nori faces, rice, hot dog flowers, brocolli. For dessert are grapes and chocolate cookies, recipe from Martha Stewart…and they were delicious!
For the cat’s eyes I followed their suggestion and pushed in some silver ball candies halfway through baking, but I thought the bats needed to be vampires.
My Mom clued me into this fantastic idea for decorating small things (I had been attempting to make marshmallow fondant…it was difficult and used a lot of icing sugar)…

chewy candies! Why didn’t I think of that? I like to use these Imei candies from the Asian grocer because they are delicious…but anything chewy (think Starburst) will work. Actually, I think I’ll try using Starburst sometime because the colours are so vibrant!
If the candy is a little hard, microwave it on low (or defrost) for 5-10 SECONDS, then roll it out to about 1/16” thick, using either corn starch or icing sugar if it’s sticky. If you microwave the candy too much it will melt. Don’t touch it! It’ll be really hot.

Then cut it into whatever you want! Use a little honey or corn syrup to “glue” it on. I advise the eating of the scraps ;)

Because these were so tiny I used some tweezers to pick them up and a paintbrush (reserved for food stuffs!) to brush on the corn syrup. Then I stuck them on.

Easy, right! I made some flowers too, but I’ll save them for next time. I love chewy candies, they taste a million times better than fondant!

Hope you had a spooky night!
