(don't) forget your lunch

Hi! I'm Sam. I don't really cook...I think I just "assemble" food so I really like to make bento! I try to post as much as I can but I disappear for extended periods of time depending on my schedule :) I overwhelm myself sometimes, what can I say?

If you like me, check out my other blog forgot my head for my other creative, non-food things. Like fashion, because that's kind of what I'm studying at university.

In my last post I mentioned that I was attempting to make steam buns.

And it worked…sort of.  They’re all different sizes! ;__;  So ugly.  But they were tasty, G will back me up.

After they steamed they looked a little better I guess.

I wasn’t quite sure how these were going to turn out, so I only made a half batch of dough, but I had a lot of meat so I took this opportunity to make cabbage rolls also.

Actually I just ate that for dinner.  Trying to take a picture of those ugly buggers at night (poopy lighting) wasn’t working so I figured since I needed something to eat I would make it look nice.  Ugly, but tasty!

I was getting frustrated (and bored) making cabbage rolls, so I cracked an egg and added more panko to the rest of my ground pork mixture and made exactly 7 meat balls.

Instant caveman meats!  I love those picks.

All for only $1.77 worth of lean ground pork!  (I think I bought just over a pound…whatever a large handful was).  I would definitely make these again.  I think my bun filling and cabbage rolling techniques could use a little work, but clearly I need the practice.

If you want to try to make these…

Cabbage rolls from Just Bento (hers actually look pretty, I just fail)
